CHANGING SADDLES
IntroductionAs you read the Pauline Epistles you will notice the Apostle Paul shares his testimony several times…….how he persecuted the church, was struck blind on the road to Damascus, how the Lord saved him, called him to be His Apostle, etc. Each time Paul shared his testimony it was very effective. I have heard Oral Roberts give his testimony several times. As he tells how the Lord healed him and called him to the healing ministry thousands have been blessed. Every time I have heard his testimony I was deeply touched. I have heard Kenneth Hagen tell how he was dying and was carried to a tent revival, was healed and became the Father of the Faith Movement, pastured a great church, helped establish churches all over the world, and established a Bible Training Center.
I am using these great men as examples only to illustrate how powerful our testimonies can be. God has been so good to me. I have been in the ministry for fifty years, have a wonderful wife and fantastic marriage. My children and grandchildren are saved, serving God and active in ministry. Our oldest daughter has been to China on a mission trip. Still, there have been many tough times. Now, I am sharing my testimony of how I became a rodeo cowboy and bull rider as a teenager, was miraculously saved and called to preach. Traveled as an evangelist, slept in the back seat of my old Plymouth automobile many nights. Shaved, cleaned up and got dressed for church in a service station rest room. My life was threatened by the Black Muslims and KKK during the violent years when racial prejudice was at it‘s worse. I escaped a couple of bomb threats and was arrested and jailed for preaching the gospel.
There is an old gospel song with a line like this, “Sometimes I look back and wonder how I got over”. I used to relate to those words. I would wonder how did I get through that trial, how did I make it out of that battle, how did I get over that conflict. Another song writer answered all my questions, “Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come. It was God’s wonderful grace that brought me safe thus far and that same wonderful grace will take me the rest of the way”. The grace of God is more than able to deliver us from all our battles. I pray what you are about to read will encourage you to serve the Lord and be all you can be for the glory of God, do all you can do for the glory of God, and enjoy the greatness of God as never before.
God Is An Awesome God,
Milton Baker
